First off. Allow me to preface that this blog is going to represent what A Spiritual Hand Ayahuasca Center does with Ayahuasca. You know how to search the internet, maybe just as well as I do …. I would like to share how we see this plant medicine and how we’re using it to change lives.
Let’s start with a little backround info to be fair… and so you don’t really need to do the research on your own if you don’t want to. 😉
Ayahuasca is a plant based hallucinogen that is found in the stem of the vine of an Amazonian plant called Banisteriopsis caapi .. to be super technical. When mixed with one or two sister plants it becomes what is popularly growing into the drink that heals. Often translated as “vine of the soul“.
Because the different pieces of the Ayahuasca mix need eachother in order to be effective, the human body has various different physical reactions, while each person is able to have their own spiritual experience.
For anyone that comes to join us, I do wan’t to be transparent enough to say that: No, it doesn’t taste very good to drink Ayahuasca and Yes, it’s likely to make your body vomit. I’ll be the first one to say that vomitting is highest on my least favorite bodily reactions. However, I’ll speak for myself and maybe a few who read this that I’ve probably vomiited more after an evening of “coping” (i.e. partying/binging/nonsense) then Ayahuasca will ever have me do.
In this case, the vomitting is the bodies way of beginning the Atonement process.. in other words – the undoing.
The physcial cleanse, the purging of everything that is not yours physcially so you can move into a emotional and mental state to do the same. To briefly (the hallucination can last anywhere from 4-8 hours) return to who you really are beneath the fog you’ve created over all this time.
So why Ayahuasca? Why create a retreat center off the Amazon River near a local village in Peru and risk all that was familiar to create this experience for anyone who want’s to come receive A Spiritual Hand??
A dude named Kirby Surprise sums it up real well in his blog bysaying “The most common anecdotal reports from use of the tea are of profound psychological and spiritual healing, accompanied by personal insight and integration. It is often reported that the tea breaks even profound depressive episodes in a single use. This positive psychological benefit is what I call the “Ayahuasca Effect.” That is, to produce an intense and positive integrative experience with lasting beneficial effects from use of the tea, with no side effects common to pharmaceutical antidepressants.”
This place is here to help you. Only if you feel called that is. The trip in it’s entirety will be a good time. Filled with Peruvian culture, day trip experiences playing in the jungle and floating down the Amazon river. Authentic food and real connections with both locals and those that are along for the trip. Ceremonies are held at night, closely guided by a local shaman who takes inherent pride in sharing this gift and hosting our spiritual experiences. Then, during the days that follow there will be different experiences to help cement and ground the ceremonial experience. So when you go home you can leave with not only a life changing experience, but tools to make sure you can stay congruent with your new outlook on life.
